In the Inter Co-op. Bank Chess Competition sponsored by Co-operative Bank Employees Union, Mumbai and Bima Kamgar Co-operative Bank Limited, first seeded Manas Sawant of Municipal Bank, second seeded Vinod More and Riyal Jawkar of NKGSB Bank, Aditya Joshi of MSC Bank, Sachin Katkar of Mumbai Bank etc. advanced victoriously and reached the third round. Bhargav Dhargalkar of Jankalyan Bank, who dominated the board till the middle of the innings, made a mistake in the 14th minute and Riyal Jawkar took advantage of it and won a close victory. The competition was inaugurated in the presence of Union President Anandrao Adsul and Bima Kamgar Co-op. Bank President Prashant Sawant.
In the first round, due to the amazing tactics of defending champion Manas Sawant, Nilesh Ajnadkar of Greater Bank had to surrender in the 12th minute.
