MUMBAI-Due to the explosive batting of unbeaten half-century player Abhijit More and all-rounder Subhash Sivagan, J.J. Hospital defeated the mighty Lilavati Hospital by 6 wickets and reached the semi-finals of the senior journalist Late Atmaram More Memorial Cup Inter-Hospital T-20 Cricket Tournament started by the Atmaram More Foundation. Despite the strong batting of captain Rupesh Kondalkar and Vijay Nadkar, Lilavati Hospital had to lose. All-rounder Abhijit More received the Man of the Match award and Rupesh Kondalkar received the Best Player award in the presence of Arun Mane, CEO of Secure One Security Company, cricket enthusiast Vaibhav More, Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner Leeladhar Chavan and others.
In the tournament organized by Ideal Sports Academy in collaboration with Life Insurance Corporation of India, J.J. Hospital won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Viresh Dandekar (21 runs off 31 balls) and Vijay Nadkar (35 runs off 32 balls) shared a half-century partnership for the first wicket and Rupesh Kondalkar (31 runs off 24 balls) batted well as captaincy to help Lilavati Hospital reach 138 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Abhijit More, Prakash Solanki, Jagdish Vaghela, Rakesh Shelar and Rohit Solanki took one wicket each.
Chasing the winning target, openers Subhash Sivagan (43 runs off 33 balls), Abhijit More (56 not out off 38 balls) and Jagdish Vaghela (20 runs off 22 balls) batted brilliantly as J.J. Hospital posted 93 for 1 in the 12th over. Vishal Shinde (1 wicket for 20 runs) and Rupesh Kondalkar (1 wicket for 19 runs) bowled well to turn the match around, but J.J. Hospital finally won the quarter-finals by scoring 139 runs in 18.4 overs.
