REACHES MUMBAI FROM ATTARI ON ICG RAISING DAY

Mumbai : The coastal city of Mumbai witnessed an awe-inspiring display of national pride as the ‘Sentinels of Sea : Sarhad Se Samandar’ motor cycle rally, organized by the Indian Coast Guard Regional Headquarter (West) to commemorate Indian Coast Guard’s 49th Raising Day, made its way from Attari Border, Punjab and concluded at the iconic Gateway of India, Mumbai. The rally was flagged off on 22 Jan 25 and transited through the states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat before concluding at Mumbai on 01 Feb 25 i.e Indian Coast Guard Day.

The Chief Guest for the culmination ceremony was Shri Vivek Phansalkar, IPS Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, who felicitated the riders in the presence of Additional Director General Anil Kumar Harbola, PTM, TM, Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard), Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (West), Indian Coast Guard Officers and state administration representatives.

The rally, conceived as a tribute to the Indian Coast Guard’s indomitable spirit, served the dual purpose of honouring its legacy while making a significant impact. It symbolized the connection between two vital domains of India’s national security: the land borders and the expansive maritime frontiers. Beginning at the historic Attari Border in Amritsar, Punjab, and culminating at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, the rally made several key stops, including Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur in Rajasthan, the Statue of Unity (Kevadia) and Vadodara in Gujarat, as well as Daman (UT of Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli) covering over 2300 Kms. The rally also featured interactive sessions with school and college students, offering insights into life within the Indian Coast Guard, its core values, and its commitment to providing equal opportunities for both men and women. These sessions aimed to inspire youth to consider a career in the Armed Forces.

More than just a journey, the motorcycle rally became a movement—one that connected, inspired, and empowered. It also provided a unique platform for raising awareness about key initiatives of the Government of India, such as the ‘Fit India Movement,’ ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,’ and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.’ The success of the rally was made possible through the collaboration of the Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force, Indian Army, State Police Forces of Punjab, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Triumph Motorcycles, IOCL, and Blossom Industries. This united effort beautifully highlighted the strength and solidarity of the Indian Coast Guard and its sister services.

As this historic journey concludes, it leaves behind a powerful legacy of inspiration and action. The rally has been a celebration of India’s strength, resilience, and unity, effectively linking the nation’s land and sea in a narrative of national pride and collective responsibility. The momentum generated by this remarkable 10-day event will continue to inspire and drive meaningful change in the years to come.
