Saksham 2024-25: Empowering India Towards Sustainable Energy Conservation | Between February 14-28, 2025

Saksham 2024-25:

MUMBAI : – In a significant move towards promoting energy security, sustainable development, and environmental protection, the Government of India has announced the launch of ‘Saksham 2024-25,’ at a press conference held in Mumbai today.

Saksham 2024-25 aims to promote energy security, sustainable development, and environmental protection across the country. The program’s ultimate goal is to curb wasteful expenditure on fossil fuels, reduce the growing burden on the foreign exchequer, and protect the environment from the adverse effects of greenhouse gases emitted from burning fossil fuels.

The inauguration of Saksham 2024-25, is scheduled for February 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Y.B. Chavan Centre, Rangshwar Hall, opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, along with state-level coordinators from the oil industry, will undertake various initiatives with the active involvement and support of the concerned state governments to spread mass awareness. The program will run from February 14 to February 28, 2025, under the tagline “Cleaner Environment through Green and Clean Energy.”

Saksham 2025 will feature a series of activities targeting individuals and businesses alike:

  • Group Talks/Debates:Organized for school and college students to foster discussions on energy conservation.
  • Graffiti/Wall Painting Competitions:Held in colleges to creatively express the message of fuel conservation.
  • Fuel-Efficient Driving Competitions:Encouraging drivers to adopt fuel-efficient driving practices.
  • Article Writing and Press Conferences:Facilitating the dissemination of information through written content and media interactions.
  • Talk Shows on TV/Radio:Engaging the public through broadcast media to discuss energy conservation topics.

The program targets children, youths, LPG users, drivers, industry professionals, workers, farmers, residential societies, gram panchayats, and NGOs, propagating awareness about the importance, benefits, and methods of fuel conservation. It also aims to promote the adoption of fuel-efficient technologies and practices.

These collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, state-level coordinators, and the active involvement of concerned state governments are expected to drive the success of Saksham 2025 seeking to engage the entire nation in the collective effort to conserve fuel, reduce carbon emissions, and contribute to a sustainable and environmentally friendly future. Thus paving the way for a cleaner and more sustainable energy future for India.

IMPORTENS KEY NOTES

  • The ultimate objective of this programme is to curb wasteful expenditure on fossil fuels, reduce the increasing burden on foreign exchequer and protect the environment from the adverse effects of greenhouse gases generated by burning fossil fuels.
  • The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the State Level Coordinator of Oil Industry undertake various activities to spread awareness with the active participation/support of the concerned State Government.
  •  Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are at the forefront in promoting petroleum products, promoting fuel-efficient equipment and assisting the Government in proposing policies and strategies for petroleum conservation.
    With the same fervor, SAKSHAM (Sankham (Festival of Defence Capability)) 2024-25 will be organised from 14th February 2025 to 28th February 2025, across the country. The tagline of which will be “Clean Environment through Green and Clean Energy” (Adopt Green and Clean Energy and Make Environment Clean)
  •  From February 14, 2025 to February 28, 2025, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) will be conducting various activities across the state to create awareness about conservation and encourage behavioral changes for sustainable development and environmental protection.
  •  As a part of this, the oil industry in Maharashtra is organizing an inaugural ceremony on February 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Y.B. Chavan Centre, Rangswar Hall, opposite Mantralaya, Mumbai – 400021.
  •  Various activities like group discussions/debates for school and college students, graffiti/mural competitions in colleges, fuel efficient driving competitions, article writing, press conferences and talk shows on TV/radio will be organized during this fortnight.
  •  During the Saksham campaign, OMC will reach out to various large sections like school children, youth, LPG users, drivers/fleet operators, industry employees/laborers, farmers, residential societies, Gram Panchayats, NGOs etc. and implement various fuel conservation activities to spread awareness about the importance, benefits and practices of fuel conservation and encourage adoption of fuel-efficient technologies and practices.
