MUMBAI : RMI.IN- SoBo Mumbai Falcons produced a clinical all-round performance to beat Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs by 25 runs and clinch the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women’s League title at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday. Led by captain Sayali Satghare, the Falcons defended a modest total of 124 with disciplined bowling to become the competition’s first-ever champions.
Player of the Match Janhvi Kate led the charge with a match-winning spell of 3/21, delivering crucial breakthroughs, including the prized wicket of Orange Cap holder Sanika Vinod Chalke. Thirteen-year-old Swara Jadhav once again rose to the occasion, returning figures of 2/14 in 3.5 overs and claiming both the first and final wickets of the title clash. Her impressive performance saw her finish the tournament as the Purple Cap holder tied with Captain Sayali Satghare for 10 wickets each. Satghare and Nirmiti Rane chipped in with a wicket apiece as the Falcons produced a disciplined bowling display, triggering a dramatic collapse that saw Aakash Tigers MWS slump from 43/2 to 99 all out and sealing a historic title triumph for SoBo Mumbai Falcons.
The title-winning campaign showcased the depth and balance of the SoBo Mumbai Falcons squad, combining experienced leadership, emerging young talent and consistent performances across all departments. Under the leadership of Sayali Satghare, the Falcons remained one of the most complete teams in the competition and fittingly became the inaugural champions of the Women’s T20 Mumbai League.
The inaugural edition witnessed the emergence of several promising young talents from the city, like Swara, among others, who made the most of the platform and impressed with a series of outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
Earlier, Simran Shaikh played a pivotal role with the bat, scoring a composed 50 off 35 deliveries. Her knock, which included six boundaries and two sixes, proved crucial in helping the Falcons recover after an early setback and post a competitive total. Captain Sayali Satghare contributed a valuable 27 off 20 balls, while Sarika Koli added 24 as the Falcons finished on 124/6 in their 20 overs.
