Amit Mehta Faces Rape Allegation; Victim Seeks Red and Blue Corner Notices
Lookout notice issued against accused: Woman alleges that police are not conducting medical examination

Mumbai : In the case of alleged rape of a 36-year-old woman, the Santacruz police had filed an A-summary report before the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate of Bandra last month. However, the victim’s lawyer has filed an application seeking issuance of Red Corner and Blue Corner Notices against the accused, 54-year-old Amit Mehta, residing in Geneva, Switzerland. Meanwhile, the police had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Mehta on May 22. The incident is said to have taken place in April 2025 and the case was registered on April 27, 2025.
According to the FIR, the complainant, who lives in Andheri West and runs a production house, was introduced to Mehta by a female friend. The friend allegedly told her that Mehta, a senior official of an international bank, had come to Mumbai from Geneva and could advise her on investments. She then arranged a dinner in Juhu. Her friend had known Mehta for about three years.
On April 6, 2025, at around 9.30 pm, the complainant and her friend went to meet Mehta. They had dinner at Mahesh Lunch Home and discussed various matters. Mehta then told the complainant that he wanted to talk to her. After dropping her friend in Bandra West, Mehta and the complainant went for a walk on Juhu beach.
According to the FIR, at midnight, they were walking behind a five-star hotel on Juhu beach and were discussing investments. The complainant alleged that Mehta sexually assaulted her at around 12.30 am. She further alleged that she got scared, left the car and returned to her home in an auto rickshaw.
The complainant told the police that she did not tell anyone about the incident at that time as she was under mental pressure and fear. She later approached the Santacruz police and lodged a complaint.
The police registered a case on April 27, 2026 under sections 64(1) (punishment for rape), 74 (assault or use of criminal force on woman) and 75 (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On July 15, 2026, she addressed a detailed apology letter to the Senior Inspector of Police of Santacruz police station, explaining why, immediately after the attack, she was not mentally capable of facing a medical examination, and confirmed that she was ready to undergo the test.
The complainant has also alleged that she was not given a medical examination. According to her, even though she made herself available for the examination, it was repeatedly postponed or not conducted, and she was not given any clear reason. She has expressed concern about the delay, claiming that it affected the investigation and showed a lack of seriousness in pursuing the case.
