Surat, (RMN.IN):The Lalbhai Contractor Stadium witnessed a high-octane double-header on Sunday (January 11) as the Ahmedabad Lions preserved their unbeaten streak with a 40-run victory over Delhi Superheros, while Falcon Risers Hyderabad dismantled Bengaluru Strikers by eight wickets in a clinical display of street-cricket mastery.

In the evening’s first fixture, the Ahmedabad Lions proved why they are the team to beat this season. Batting first, the Lions posted a competitive 92 all out in their 10 overs.

The standout performer was Amit Naik, whose blistering 32 off just 15 balls (SR 213.33) included a four and a towering six. A pivotal moment occurred when Ahmedabad won the ‘Challenge,’ adding 17 penalty runs to their total—a cushion that proved vital as their middle order struggled.

For Delhi Superheros, Firoz Shaikh was sensational, returning figures of 4 for 9. He was supported by Aakash Singh (3/11), but Delhi’s discipline wavered, conceding 27 extras.

Delhi’s chase never found its rhythm, further hampered by losing their ‘Challenge,’ which resulted in a 4-run deduction. Nizam led the Lions’ defense with a stellar 3 for 7, supported by Dibakar (2/9) and Farman (2/13), restricting Delhi to 52 for 9.

Super Sunday’s second clash saw Falcon Risers Hyderabad produce a defensive masterclass. Opting to field, Hyderabad’s Parveen Kumar tore through the Bengaluru Strikers lineup.

Kumar’s lethal spell of 4 for 8 dismantled the middle order, while Vishwajit Thakur (2/16) and Vicky Bhoir kept the pressure high. Bengaluru collapsed from 14 for 4 to 62 all out in 10 overs, with only Sumeet Dhekale (14) and Omkar Keni (11) reaching double digits.

Hyderabad’s chase was a masterclass in composure. Prashant Gharat anchored the innings with an unbeaten 29 off 24 balls, punctuated by a massive hit into the stands that earned him nine runs under the unique ISPL scoring rules. Despite losing Mansoor KL and Yogesh Penkar (17), Shreyash Kadam (11*) helped Gharat close out the game at 64 for 2 with two overs to spare.

Majhi Mumbai will take on Delhi Superheros on Monday (January 12) at 8 PM.

ISPL Season 3 matches are being televised live on Star Sports Khel and streamed on JioHotstar. Tickets for matches at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat, are available online via official ticketing partners, with limited on-ground availability.
