Vivekanand Education Society’s Arts, Science & Commerce College Drives Social Impact Through Blood Donation and Thalassemia Screening
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff.

Mumbai (RMN.COM) : Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Autonomous, with its National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Chembur, successfully organised a Blood Donation Drive and Thalassemia Screening Camp, reaffirming its commitment to community service, preventive healthcare, and social responsibility. For Blood Donation blood banks from S.L. Raheja Hospital, Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (LTMGH) were invited.
A total of 72 voluntary donors contributed 32,400 ml of blood, while 116 students underwent Thalassemia Screening, promoting awareness about the early detection of hereditary blood disorders and encouraging a culture of preventive healthcare.
Addressing the occasion, Dr. Anita Kanwar, Principal, said, “At Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Arts, Science & Commerce, we believe education extends beyond classrooms to nurturing socially responsible citizens. The enthusiastic participation of our students and staff reflects their compassion, commitment to service, and willingness to make a meaningful difference in society. We sincerely thank the Rotary Club of Chembur, S.L. Raheja Hospital, LTMGH, and our dedicated NSS team for their invaluable support in making this initiative a success.”
The programme provided students with an opportunity to actively contribute to society while reinforcing the values of empathy, civic responsibility, and community engagement. Through such initiatives, the college continues to integrate social outreach with holistic education, empowering students to become responsible and compassionate citizens.
