HPCL Organizes Mumbai Parallel Curtain Raiser for India Energy Week 2027 at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR)

Mumbai (RMN) : Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) organized the Mumbai parallel Curtain Raiser event for India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 at S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Andheri. The Mumbai event was directly linked to the National Curtain Raiser for IEW 2027 organized in Kolkata. On this occasion, the 5th edition of India Energy Week was formally announced under the theme “Driving Innovation. Ensuring Energy Security. Shaping the Future.”

Addressing the national event, Hon’ble Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, said that the upcoming India Energy Week will prove to be an ideal platform for environmentally friendly energy generation, clean energy production, hydrogen fuel and other emerging energy solutions. The national curtain raiser in Kolkata was addressed by the Hon’ble Petroleum Minister and other dignitaries, and was live-streamed to the Mumbai audience.

The Mumbai program saw the presence of Shri K. S. Shetty, Director – Human Resources, HPCL; Smt. Srividya Venkataraman, Director – Finance, HPCL; Dr. Varun Nagaraj, Dean and Professor, Information Management and Analytics, SPJIMR; and Prof. B. N. Chaudhari, Principal, Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai, along with government representatives, start-ups, industry stakeholders and more than 380 students from various colleges across Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri K. S. Shetty, Director-HR, HPCL, said: “India’s energy journey is at a critical juncture. As we move towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047 and our commitment to Net-Zero by 2070, we will have to balance energy security, affordability and sustainability at the same time. India Energy Week provides a crucial platform for this dialogue. By bringing together global expertise, technology, investments and young talent, this platform is contributing to building the energy systems that will power the next phase of India’s growth.”

Smt. Srividya Venkataraman, Director-Finance, HPCL, highlighted the importance of developing opportunities and collaborative mechanisms to take new technologies beyond the idea and prototype stage to pilot projects and industrial-scale implementation. She said: “To transform an innovation into an industrially deployable technology, financial support alone is not enough; it requires expertise, infrastructure, pilot opportunities and access to industry partners who are ready to test and adopt new solutions. Initiatives like MC² and MC²+ IGNITE try to bridge this gap, as they connect deep-tech innovators with the energy industry.”

The event provided more than 380 students with a direct opportunity to interact with India’s energy sector and understand topics related to energy security, energy transition, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and policy. The interaction between senior industry leadership, academicians, government representatives and start-ups also helped students understand the emerging opportunities in the energy ecosystem.

Following the local discussions, the audience in Mumbai was connected live to the national program underway in Kolkata, where they witnessed addresses by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and other dignitaries and energy sector stakeholders. India Energy Week 2027 is proposed to be organized from 28th to 31st January 2027 in Kolkata. The Curtain Raiser event, organized under the theme of giving new direction to innovation, strengthening energy security and shaping the future, created a platform for a comprehensive dialogue in the energy sector. The Mumbai parallel event highlighted HPCL’s commitment to fostering youth engagement and innovation in the energy transition journey.
