~Collective chanting of Bhagavad Gita’s 15th Chapter marks the Mission’s 75-year spiritual legacy~

MUMBAI RMN.IN(E): The verses of the Bhagavad Gita found living expression on Saturday evening as Chinmaya Mission brought over 5,000 devotees together at Barku Patil Udhyan for the Samashti (Collective) chanting of the Bhagavad Gita’ 15th chapter, creating a shared space of devotion, reflection and inner transformation. The large-scale gathering marked a powerful expression of collective faith as Chinmaya Mission enters its 75th year in 2026, carrying forward the vision of its founder, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, to take the eternal wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita from scripture into everyday life.
The gathering saw the participation of 1,500 students from 25 schools, reflecting Chinmaya Mission’s sustained focus on engaging the younger generation and nurturing early exposure to India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

The evening unfolded in a contemplative and devotional atmosphere, with bhajans setting the tone ahead of the arrival of Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission. The event also included a short film on the life and legacy of Pujya Gurudev, highlighting his vision of taking Vedantic wisdom beyond discourse and into everyday practice. A specially curated light-and-laser presentation accompanied the programme, translating key philosophical ideas into a visual experience for the audience.
The central chanting was led by around 90 students, including winners of Chinmaya Mission’s Gita chanting competitions from various regions. Their participation reflected the Mission’s focus on nurturing the youth and ensuring continuity of India’s spiritual heritage through reverent learning and practice.
Chapter 15 of the Bhagavad Gita, known as the Purushottama Yoga, presents one of the text’s most powerful philosophical teachings. Through the metaphor of the inverted Ashvattha tree, it explains the impermanent nature of worldly existence and the need for discernment and detachment. The chapter culminates in the understanding of the Purushottama, the Supreme Reality that transcends both the perishable and imperishable.
Addressing the gathering, Pujya Swami Swaroopananda said, “Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda gave the Bhagavad Gita back to the people. When we chant it together, we are not just repeating sacred words, we are continuing a spiritual revolution that began with our Pujya Gurudev. The Mass Gita Chanting in Mumbai united our voices in a powerful expression of devotion and wisdom, carrying forward Pujya Gurudev’ mission of taking the Gita to every seeker, everywhere.”
“When thousands chant it together, it moves beyond philosophy and becomes a shared inner experience. As Chinmaya Mission completes 75 years, this collective chanting reflects the timeless power of the Gita to bring clarity, strength, and oneness to society” he further added.

The Mumbai Samashti Gita Chanting stood as a reminder that the Bhagavad Gita continues to unite people across age, language and background. Through collective chanting, Chinmaya Mission reaffirmed its belief that India’s spiritual heritage is not only to be preserved, but to be lived, shared and experienced together.ve expression of gratitude and a revival of the joy and purpose that Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s vision continues to inspire. It brings Chinmaya devotees together worldwide through signature festivals, spiritual initiatives, cultural offerings, centre-led events and global online offerings, in the spirit of: “75 Years. One Movement. Beyond Boundaries. Eternally Inspired”
As part of the Mahotsav, Chinmaya Mission is uniting seekers through landmark initiatives including 108 Samashti Shri Hanuman Chalisa Havan, Samashti Gita Chanting, the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra – Wisdom on wheels (a 295-day national pilgrimage across Bharat) and Mahotsav celebrations across centres worldwide – each a sacred expression of unity and love.
