On the occasion of Republic Day, January 26, a grand and successful wrestling extravaganza titled “Kushti Ka Mahadangal” was organized at Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh Ground, Lokhandwala, Kandivali East, Mumbai. The event marked a significant step toward reviving and promoting India’s glorious traditional wrestling heritage.

Kushti Ka Mahadangal 2026 was graced by several eminent personalities as chief guests and special invitees, including Shri Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State; Hon. Girish Mahajan, Minister of Water Resources, Government of Maharashtra; Atul Bhatkhalkar, MLA from Kandivali East; Sanjay Upadhyay, MLA from Borivali; Hon. Rajhans Singh, MLC from Dindoshi Assembly; former MP Gopal Shetty; renowned actor Mukesh Rishi; Bhojpuri singer Sanjay Yaduvanshi; and Dipannita Patra, among many other notable personalities.

The Mahadangal is being promoted under the patronage of Narsingh Yadav and Shilpi Yadav, while the concept was brought to life by Nasir Hussain and Supratik Sen.

This mega wrestling event marks the beginning of a larger vision. A year-long Mahadangal Series is planned, featuring India’s top wrestlers. The historic celebration of Indian wrestling featured teams such as Maratha Warriors, MP Mahaveers, UP Yoddhas, and Sher-e-Punjab. Organized by the Narsingh Foundation and Nagrik Sanrakshan Dal, the event saw participation from elite wrestlers including Maharashtra Kesari Prithviraj Patil and Punjab Kesari Karandeep Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sanjay Upadhyay said,
“The Kushti Ka Mahadangal League has been a huge success. I congratulate Narsingh Yadav and his team for reviving the wrestling tradition on January 26. The enthusiasm of the youth and participation of top wrestlers clearly show that the era of wrestling has truly returned to Mumbai.”

Actor Mukesh Rishi also highlighted the growing popularity of wrestling and emphasized the importance of organizing such events to preserve India’s sporting culture.
