Highlighting the Government of Maharashtra’s continued support for the event and its enduring legacy—which includes promoting a healthy lifestyle through running, fostering civic pride, and uniting diverse communities—Honorable Chief Minister Shri… Devendra Fadnavis is serving as the Chief Patron of the ‘Tata Mumbai Marathon’.
Shri Jishnu Dev Verma, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra:
I am very happy to know that a marathon that started as an event has today become a movement. It is good to see people of all ages and all sections of society running shoulder to shoulder, each for their own cause while contributing to the greater cause of the nation. The spirit of the marathon is always greater than the numbers, and I am happy that the Tata Mumbai Marathon is reaching out beyond Mumbai through philanthropy and compassion.
Shri Ashish Shelar, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology and Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra:
Mumbai is known for its creativity, culture, contribution and festivals. Over the years, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has added another beautiful dimension to the city’s identity, making Mumbai synonymous with one of the world’s premier marathons. For me, the Tata Mumbai Marathon is not only about sport, speed or scale; it is also about inspiring people to embrace fitness and an active lifestyle. As registrations open for the landmark 22nd edition, I encourage people from across Maharashtra and India to participate in this extraordinary celebration of endurance and community. The marathon also provides a platform for individuals to contribute towards social responsibility while spreading the important message of sustainability. The Government of Maharashtra is proud to support an event that has grown into a global sporting benchmark, and I am confident the Tata Mumbai Marathon will continue to achieve even greater heights in the years to come.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, PVSM, AVSM, NM, FOC in C, Western Naval Command:
The Tata Mumbai Marathon has helped inculcate a culture of running in our country. Today, there are more than 1,000 running events across India, and this marathon reflects the spirit of Mumbai—dynamic, inclusive and always moving forward. It is a remarkable race and, as I have been given to believe, the largest marathon in Asia.
I am a graduate of the National Britain’s Academy, and I still remember the cross-country races we ran as part of our training. Back then, I could never have imagined that people would one day pay to run 10, 21 or 42.195 kilometres. That is how far the culture of running has progressed.
Events like the Tata Mumbai Marathon have inspired people to embrace long-distance running, ultra-marathons and triathlons. My compliments to Procam International and its partners for the tremendous work they have done. I wish the Tata Mumbai Marathon every success and assure you that whatever the Navy needs to do, we will always be there, marching step for step with this remarkable event.
Lt. General DS Kushwah, PVSM, AVSM, SM, GOC, MG & G Area:
The Tata Mumbai Marathon is a truly iconic event that has grown from strength to strength through its vision, inclusivity and contribution to the cause of philanthropy. It brings together not just Mumbai, but the whole of India and much of the world, while showcasing and uniting the country. India most certainly needs more such events and ideas.
For the Indian Armed Forces, physical fitness is a way of life, so our participation in this event comes naturally. Every year, serving personnel, veterans, war-wounded soldiers and persons with disabilities participate in large numbers, reflecting our culture and commitment to sport.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon has also seen many podium finishes by Army athletes in the elite category, and I am confident this momentum will continue. My best wishes for another successful edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon. Jai Hind.
Shri Vivek Pandey, Commissioner, Central GST, Central Excise, Mumbai:
Mumbai is one of the epicentres and focal points of the country’s revenue collection, and the Tata Mumbai Marathon represents the growth and economic development this city has given to the nation. We are proud, encouraged and inspired to be associated with this event. We thank PROCAM for giving the Central GST Department, Customs Department and our workforce the opportunity to be part of this event.
Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager – Central Railway:
Ever since we were young, the marathon has been an iconic event for Mumbai. The spirit of the city and the enthusiasm of its people are a great example of that. I remember coming here on my days off to witness the event. I have always believed that, in today’s world, lifestyle and fitness are extremely important. There is no other way to fitness – just exercise. And by creating this event, you encourage a large number of people across the country to focus on their fitness.
Angelo Gorge, CEO, Bisleri:
It is an honor and privilege to be part of the 22nd edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon. Some come to compete, some to contribute, but many simply to be part of something that’s bigger than themselves. That truly captures the spirit of the Tata Mumbai Marathon and reflects the extraordinary power of communities coming together with purpose. Bisleri is proud and privileged to be part of this association for many years. While we refresh the athletes who are running—there can be no better amplification for the need for hydration than a marathon—we also ensure every single bottle is collected post-marathon and sent for recycling. That’s our commitment to sustainability. As we celebrate the 22nd edition, I wish all the runners the very best for a wonderful event.
Raman Madhok, Chairperson, United Way Mumbai:
While many have spoken about what this marathon means to Mumbai- the city coming together, the community, and the celebration, I want to speak about the part of the race that most people don’t see.
Behind every runner is a promise made to someone else. A runner raising funds so a child can go to school. A son whose father needed hospital treatment but couldn’t afford it. Over the years, thousands of runners have turned their efforts into meaningful change.
To date, nearly ₹543 crore has been raised by Indian civil society, one campaign at a time. Most of these funds go to our NGO partners. Last year, over 300 NGOs partnered with us, working on some of society’s toughest challenges, often with very limited resources. United Way Mumbai has been the philanthropy partner of this event since 2009.
My appeal is simple: the promise behind every bib can be yours too. Run for a cause, field a team from your company, support a fundraiser, volunteer with an NGO, or simply come and talk to us. This January, when Mumbai comes together on Race Day, let it also be the day someone’s life quietly changes because you chose to be part of it.
Sanjiv Saran Mehra, President, Bombay Gymkhana:
It is a great honour for Bombay Gymkhana to host the runners on race day. I still remember when the event began in 2003 with the campaign, Run Mumbai Run. I’m delighted to see that Mumbai has continued running all these years.
The Tata Mumbai Marathon is truly an iconic event, and we are proud to be associated with it. Here’s wishing Procam and the entire team all the very best.
Mohit Prakash, Hotel Manager, Trident Nariman Point, Mumbai:
I don’t think I can add to what this race has done for the city, the country, and so many people. On behalf of Trident Nariman Point, it has been a matter of great pride to be associated with this event for so many years. We hope this association continues as long as the spirit of Mumbai continues to inspire people. This marathon has become a marquee event, and many people identify it with our hotel. We carry that association with immense pride. I wish all the runners and everyone involved the very best.
Shreepad Shende, Chief Marketing Officer, IDFC First:
The Tata Mumbai Marathon is no longer just a race – it is one of India’s most inspiring movements. With over 70,000 participants, runners from 46 countries, and 41% women participation in the Open 10K, it reflects the spirit of inclusion and the collective energy of Mumbai.
The marathon is a story of determination, ordinary people doing extraordinary things, and a city united by a shared sense of purpose. It teaches us that nothing truly great is built on a sprint. It takes time, effort, perseverance, and a long-term vision to achieve something extraordinary.
You don’t conquer 42 kilometres in a burst of speed – you conquer it one step at a time. Whether someone runs the marathon, the half marathon or the 10K, every meaningful journey begins with taking the first step.
Mr. Milind Kamble, Delivery Centre Head – Mumbai, TCS:
Over the years, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has become a legacy of perseverance, inclusion and a common collective cause. This is a movement we are proud to support in the spirit of health and well-being.
When we think about the Tata Mumbai Marathon, we think about three I’s. The first is impact—the marathon creates both social and economic impact. The second is Initiatives – that bring communities, people and causes together. The third is Inclusion —from elite runners and first-time participants to the differently abled, young and old, this event includes everybody.
I am a Mumbaikar and have run the Tata Mumbai Marathon several times. When you’re 35 kilometres into the race, climbing Peddar Road Hill, tired and battling cramps, you see Mumbaikars handing out sugar, jaggery and coffee. That’s the spirit of Mumbai and what the Tata Mumbai Marathon is famous for. To all the runners joining us, welcome to Mumbai. You will experience not just a beautiful city, but the incredible spirit of its people.
